Animal cruelty & Obscene content showing torture of humans and animals

4D HYPE prohibits Contributions that encourage, assist and conspire to commit animal cruelty. 4D HYPE prohibits Contributions that show, describe or discuss the cruelty to animals in order to explicitly encourage, assist or conspire to commit acts of animal cruelty and/or the unnecessary suffering of animals, this can include but is not limited to, forming and sharing ideas and arranging for any future activities in reference to this. 4D HYPE also prohibit Contributions where animal cruelty is advertised and/or advertised for sale and prohibit Contributions describing or depicting real – or what appears to be real – torture, serious injury or the deliberate killing of a human or animal i.e. cruelty which are so serious as to be obscene. We also prohibit Contributions that contain animal cruelty and/or the unnecessary suffering of animals. In reference to all the aforementioned prohibitions, we also prohibit Contributions attempting, conspiring, encouraging, assisting, or aiding and abetting the commission and/or facilitation of these.

Acts of animal cruelty have demonstrable links to other prohibited Contributions such as extreme pornography (bestiality) and child abuse i.e. the depiction of the sexual abuse of animals is an example of the animal cruelty and torture content and also patterns of child abuse can be escalated with the perpetrator inciting the child to include animals in the sexual abuse, therefore, and because of this overlap of prohibitions and information from other policies, we may link prohibitions found therein and cross reference these with other prohibitions and information found in Extreme pornography and Do not share sexual or suggestive Contributions involving minors.

Here's a non-exhaustive list of examples of Contributions that would violate these prohibitions:

  • the promotion or facilitation of hare coursing competitions.
  • Contributions that show the physical and psychological torture of animals.
  • Contributions that show ‘Fake rescue’ which are manufactured scenarios in which a predator and other animals are introduced and then the “prey” is rescued, often involving cruelty to all animals involved – this can be paired with ‘fake outrage’.
  • Contributions showing bestiality and sexual abuse of animals.
  • Contributions of animals being crushed or eaten and in fighting events.
  • Contributions which depict real or realistic serious violence against, or injury of, an animal (real or fictional).
  • Contributions that show wounded and dead animals gratuitously.
  • Contributions where animals may be shown being kept as pets in unsuitable conditions (especially wildlife as opposed to domesticated animals), being dressed up and forced to behave like humans (e.g. walking on hind legs, dancing, or acting like a baby), or being put in situations where they show signs of fear or distress (but with behaviour which is not widely understood as fear or distress, such as monkeys “grinning” or slow lorises “laughing”).
