Sexual exploitation of adults

The internet has enabled those that are seeking to exploit sex workers or to coerce people into sex work. The International Labour Organization estimates that 6.3 million people are currently experiencing forced commercial sexual exploitation, and that nearly four out of five are women or girls.

4D HYPE prohibits Contributions that recruits, coerces, causes or incites others into prostitution for their gain or that of someone else. We prohibit any Contributions that control a prostitute for gain for their gain or that of someone else (in reference to all the aforementioned prohibitions, we also prohibit Contributions attempting, conspiring, encouraging, assisting, or aiding and abetting the commission and/or facilitation of these).

These prohibitions can involve individuals that could be victims of trafficking and/or controlled by another person, because of this overlap of prohibitions and information from other policies, we may link prohibitions found therein and cross reference these with other prohibitions and information found in Unlawful immigration and human trafficking, Controlling or Coercive Behaviour, Do not threaten, stalk, harass, abuse or bully, Do not send threatening communications as additional evidence to provide a comprehensive view of human trafficking and then use this to allow us to make judgements on whether Contributions are violative or not.

Here's a non-exhaustive list of examples of Contributions that would violate these prohibitions:

  • an advertisement offering accommodation in exchange for sex.
  • promise or trade of shelter, material possessions, transport or drugs for forced sex work.
  • fraudulent job opportunities or initiate romances to recruit and incite adults into forced sex work.
  • advertising of sexual services from an individual.
  • controlling which clients a sex worker has to engage with, or controlling the money a sex worker earns.

If you are logged in to your 4D HYPE account, you can submit a report for any Contributions that contain or may violate any of the prohibitions mentioned above. To submit a report directly from a Contributions page, click ‘Make report’, from the ‘Send report’ box select ‘?’ from the available report types.

If you don't have a 4D HYPE account, you can always submit a report here by selecting ‘Report Content Policy Violation’ from the drop down list under the ‘What do you need assistance with?‘ and then selecting ‘?’ from the drop down list under ‘Policy Violation: *’. When completing the form please include as much information as possible including the URL(s) where applicable of the Contributions within the ‘Details of inquiry: *’ box.
